Introduction to...
Cuccidati, Cucidati, Cuddureddi, Buccellati: All of these and more are the names given to a wonderful sweet the origin of which is in Sicily. They are often cited as Christmas or Wedding sweets, but we see not reason why they cound not be made and eaten all year round.
The Artisan does not have an obsession with Cuccidati (we will use that name), but was asked to find a recipe for this cookie by a number of visitors to the site. As it turned out, we found 6-7 recipes, and the search became rather interesting. Rather than try to pick the one we might like, we have posted them all here in one spot. You can make the one(s) that appeals to you, or make them all!
If you have a moment, and decide to make one or more of these recipes, please let us know how they came out. The Artisan staff enjoy this kind of research, and although time consuming, it is very rewarding. Additionally, we now know more about Cuccidati than we ever imagined we would know....
