Crostini di Alice e Tartufi Neri

(Crostini with Anchovies & Black Truffles)

Note: Shaved whole black truffles can certainly be used in this recipe instead of the paste.  We have been unable to locate them, thus the use of black truffle paste


4 Slices Crusty Italian Bread - what else?
1 Clove Garlic - whole
1/4 Cup Olive Oil - Extra Virgin
1 Tube  Anchovy Paste or 6 anchovies chopped very fine
2 Tsp. Black Truffle Paste - Sold in many specialty markets
1/8 Tsp. Dried hot pepper flakes (optional)



Grill the bread on both both sides.  Rub one side with a garlic clove. Sprinkle olive oil over this side, and spread with a brush or your fingers.  Add the anchovy paste (or chopped anchovies), spreading it over the surface of the entire slice of bread.  Next do the same thing with the truffle paste. If using the pepper flakes, sprinkle a few on each slice, then another spritz of olive oil.

Place in a preheated broiler on the top rack for 2-3 minutes.  Serve warm.
